Colonel Bryan Waugh was officially sworn in Monday as the 19th Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP), bringing more than three decades of law enforcement experience to the state’s top public safety position.
“I am honored, committed, and prepared for this opportunity,” Waugh said. “The Nebraska State Patrol is a storied organization with professional men and women who are first class… driven to provide the highest level of public safety.”
Waugh previously served as Chief of the Kearney Police Department since 2019 and has held roles with the La Vista Police Department and United States Air Force. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
Appointed by Governor Jim Pillen and unanimously confirmed by the Nebraska Legislature, Waugh was administered the oath by Judge Patrick Lee of Nebraska’s 9th District Court. His badge was pinned on by his wife, Julie.
Waugh replaces Lt. Colonel Jeff Roby, who served as interim superintendent following the May retirement of Colonel John Bolduc.
