Lincoln Police say a 44-year-old man from Troy, Michigan ended up in jail Friday after the 14-year-old girl he thought he was communicating with was actually a an undercover LPD investigator. Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says 44-year-old Brad Strickland was taken into custody at a Lincoln hotel and booked for child enticement.
Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says the case began May 27 when the LPD investigator was posing as the 14-year-old girl. “The suspect, using an alias, began messaging the account,
asking for photographs and offering money,” Thomas says. “The suspect also asked to meet for sex and exchanged phone numbers with the account.”
Thomas says on May 29 Strickland made plans with the 14-year-old he believed he was communicating with to meet near Gateway Mall for sex the next day. On Friday officers found Strickland’s vehicle at the Comfort Suites near N. Cotner Blvd and ‘O’ Street.
He was was arrested near his vehicle around noon and taken to the Lancaster County Jail. He was booked for child enticement by an electronic communications device, which is a felony.
