A second officer saw the assault and grabbed her to place her into custody. Police say while being placed into custody, Akbar grabbed the officer’s face and shoved her fingers inside of his mouth causing pain and discomfort to his lip and gums.
Akbar then resisted officer’s efforts to place her into custody. LPD says during a search of her purse she was holding officers found a loaded 9mm Glock 19 handgun with a round in the chamber. They say Akbar at no point told officers she was in possession of the gun and it was determined she was under the influence while concealing the firearm in her purse.
She was booked for two counts of assault on an officer, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed handgun while under the influence and carrying a concealed firearm without disclosing.
