The 41st annual Cornhusker State Games will kick off Thursday, July 10, with Opening Night festivities and a ceremonial torch lighting outside Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The event marks the beginning of 11 days of competition across Nebraska, featuring more than 70 sports. New this year, the torch is also making its way across the state in a multi-city tour, with stops in Grand Island, North Platte, Columbus, and Fremont.

“It’s awesome to see people of all ages, all abilities, getting out there, continuing to stay active and using our event as a motivator to still compete and have fun with friends and family,” said Ashley Kramer, Director of Operations at Nebraska Sports Council, which coordinates the annual event.

Kramer tells KLIN News that early registration numbers are tracking strong at more than 3,500 registrants currently. She anticipates that number finishing between eight or nine thousand.

Registration is open through July 2, though some events have earlier deadlines. Organizers recommend registering early, as many competitions fill quickly. Registration details can be found at CornhuskerStateGames.com.
