Lincoln Police say they are zeroing in on the gunman who wounded a man and a woman at a home near 26th and Potter last Saturday morning.  “We feel pretty comfortable we know who the shooter is,” says Captain Ben Miller.  “I think here in the next day or so we would be coming forward with an arrest on that.”

Miller says a 41-year-old man and 32-year-old woman were both shot and remain in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. Miller is optimistic they will soon be able to talk with one of the victims.  A 55-year-old Lincoln man has already been arrested an an accessory.  Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says Donald Handy was booked into the Lancaster County Jail for two counts of being an accessory to a felony.

“Investigators determined Handy arrived at the home in the area of 26th and Potter streets before the shooting happened around 10:30 Saturday morning,” Thomas says.  “One individual at the
house said he needed a ride and Handy agreed to provided one.”

Thomas says Handy told officers he later heard gunshots and a scream but did not witness the shooting.  Handy then left the house and got into his vehicle with two individuals, drove them away from the scene and made several stops over the next hour.

“One individual then got out of the vehicle and Handy continued to drive the other around for several more hours.”
