A 31-year-old Omaha man is facing a long list of charges following a domestic disturbance incident in Waverly around 9:00 Tuesday night. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says deputies spotted Caleb Monico’s vehicle and stopped it in the parking lot of Hamlow Elementary School.
Houchin says during the traffic stop Monico ran off. “A search for him was conducted by deputies along with the Nebraska State Patrol Airwing and the LPD canine.” Monico was found about 30 minutes later hiding under a bush about a block away from the school.
Houchin says the call to 911 was made by Monico’s ex-girlfriend. During a search of Monico’s vehicle a loaded Ruger .44 caliber handgun was found in the center console. He was booked for possession of a firearm by a felon, stalking with a firearm, possession of meth and possession of a firearm on school property.
