Former State Senator Patty Pansing Brooks announced her candidacy for the Legislature in District 28 following the announcement that Senator Jane Raybould would not seek re-election,
Pansing Brooks was first elected to the Legislature in 2014 and re-elected in 2018. Due to term limits, she could not run for a third successive term but Senators can run again after sitting out for at least four years.
Pansing Brooks is a native Lincolnite and Lincoln Southeast High School alum. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Colorado College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law.
In the announcement Pansing Brooks stated, “I am just as passionate and committed to making a difference as I always was. I plan to pick up the critical issues, such as juvenile justice, human trafficking, workers’ rights, protecting public education, supporting small businesses, and access to and equity in healthcare, right where I left off in 2022.”
Pansing Brooks has secured the endorsement of more than 70 current and former elected officials.
