Twelve new LPD recruits are ready to join the force.  Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says spring graduation ceremonies will be held at 5:00 Tuesday evening at Southeast Community College at 88th and ‘O’ Street.

“Our newest officers completed 22 weeks of intensive training here at LPD’s in-house training academy and will now transition into field training, rotating through various teams and shifts with field training officers,” Thomas says.

The twelve recruits come from across Nebraska and the country. “Who come from different backgrounds and walks of life, reflecting our community. They are part of LPD’s 347 total commissioned employees, which puts us at 93.5% fully staffed as we work to approach our authorized strength of 371 officers.

“We always strive to hire the best and we hold every employee at LPD to the highest standards,” Thomas says.  “We are looking for individuals who want to uphold the organizational values and goals of the Lincoln Police Department, including our mission to provide quality services that promote a safe and secure community.”
