A 59-year-old Bennet man lost $600 after being scammed by someone impersonating country singer Luke Bryan. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the man received a text message on June 17.
“This individual asked for the gentlemen’s savings account information, which he did give,” Houchin says. “The reason why is he knows Luke Bryan is a country singer and is a good guy, so he did give the information out.”
Houchin says the victim thought he was going to receive $300, but when he checked his account account it was down to $2.42. Houchin says the man lost a total of $600. “pretty much wiped him out.”
Houchin says if anyone receives a Luke Bryan text, it’s a scam.
