An Illinois man in town for a wedding ended up in the Lancaster County Jail after police say he stole a van from the LES service center near 26th and Fairfield around 1:30 Sunday morning.  “Based on witness interviews and surveillance video, police determined a man jumped the fence and drove a white 2007 Chevy Express G30 van owned by LES through the parking lot without any
lights on,” says LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.

She says the van then rammed through the automatic fence at the entrance to the lot, causing an estimated $15,000 in damage. The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys inside.  “Officers located the vehicle and contacted the driver about 15-20 minutes later in a parking lot in the area of S. 14th Street and Old Cheney Road,” Thomas says.

Thomas says 23-year-old Gavin Blume was intoxicated.  He was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail where he was booked for theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief.
