Lincoln Police say two people were killed and one injured in a two vehicle crash Monday afternoon in North Lincoln. Sergeant Dave Nelson tells KLIN News a red car was traveling northbound on Antelope Valley Parkway near Virginia Street at a high rate of speed around 1:30 p.m.
At that time Lincoln was experiencing a heavy downpour. “It appears they hit the eastbound curb, lost control, then continued north and hydroplaning,” Nelson says. The car then crossed the center line and collided with a southbound pickup truck.
Nelson says according to witnesses the car was traveling at between 60-80 miles per hour. LPD says the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital where they both died. The driver of the pickup truck was not seriously injured.
Antelope Valley Parkway from Garber Avenue to Military Road will be shut down for several hours while LPD conducts their investigation.
