Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews responded to a garage fire near 26th and West Garfield around noon Thursday.  “When we arrived, we just had light smoke, didn’t find any active fire and we didn’t actually have to spray any water,” says Battalion Chief Aaron Pospisil.

LFR says one of the garage walls caught fire and was caused by fireworks.  Pospisil tells KLIN News smoke filled the garage and made it inside the house.  Damage is estimated a $25,000.  LFR Public Information Manager MJ Lierman says an off-duty firefighter lives three houses away and saw the fire call on PulsePoint.

He was able to grab an extinguisher and put the fire out.  The residents were able to get out of the home safely.
