Lincoln Police have made a second arrest in connection with the robbery of two men at Holmes Lake on June 22nd. LPD says 18-year-old Anania Ruba was arrested around 11:15 Wednesday morning after a search was conducted at his SW Lincoln apartment.
LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says during a search of his room investigators found two loaded handguns, digital scales, cash, packaging and a variety of illegal drugs. He was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail where he was booked for robbery, use of a firearm to commit a felony, possession of a firearm with a drug violation and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
A 17-year-old was previously arrested for the robbery on June 22nd. Thomas says around 9:00 p.m. officers were sent to the lake where a 20-year-old man from Crete and a 21-year-old man from Papillion reported being robbed at gunpoint by a male known to them and two other unknown males.
The 21-year-old told officers he showed a firearm to the group when all three suspects took out their own firearms and stole the 21-year-old victim’s gun, phone, cash and keys, along with the phone of the 20-year-old victim, before leaving the area.
Around 4:00 a.m. on June 26 Thomas says officers contacted the 17-year-old from Lincoln and found the stolen handgun during a probable cause search of his vehicle. He was referred and booked at the Youth Services Center for robbery, use of a firearm to commit a felony and possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile offender.
