Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews were sent to NW 8th and West Belmont just after 7:30 Tuesday morning after smoke began filling the basement of a duplex. “Upon arrival we saw some light smoke coming from one half of the duplex,” says Battalion Chief Jeremy Gegg. “We made entry and identified there was smoke in the basement.”
Gegg says the fire was coming from a dryer that had malfunctioned. The smoke forced residents on both sides of the duplex to evacuate.
No one was hurt and damage was confined to the dryer.
