A Lincoln homeowner got quite a jolt early Thursday morning when a van crashed into the front of his house near 30th and ‘T’. LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas tells KLIN News the man was sleeping in the living room around 4:30 a.m. when he was woken up by a loud bang and the house shaking.
“He looked outside and saw a vehicle had struck the front porch of the house,” Thomas says. The man also saw three girls sitting in the vehicle before they got out and ran from the scene. Thomas says they were able to locate the 12,13 and 14-year-old girls and learned the 12-year-old had taken her mother’s van without permission.
“She said she took a turn too fast and lost control and ended up striking the house.” Thomas says the girl will be referred. Damage to the home is estimated at $15,000 and no one was injured.
