The Lincoln Airport Authority will host its 2nd Annual Human Trafficking Awareness Event on Friday, August 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Lincoln Airport Terminal, 2400 W. Adams Street.
The event features a panel discussion with speakers from organizations working to combat trafficking in Nebraska, including organizations like BraveBe, Voices of Hope, the Lincoln Police Department, and more.
A Q&A session and remarks from Lincoln Airport Authority Board Member Nicki Behmer-Popp will follow. Behmer-Popp will outline the steps the airport has taken to help identify and prevent trafficking.
Informational booths and local food trucks will also be on site. In case of rain, the event will move indoors. The Red Sand Project demonstration may be postponed if inclement weather persists.
“As an airport, we have a unique role and responsibility in helping identify and prevent trafficking activity,” Behmer-Popp said in a statement. “This event is about awareness, education, and community action.”
