The Lincoln Police Department’s Special Victims Unit (SVU) stopped a child predator over the weekend.

On Wednesday, July 9th, an SVU investigator operating an undercover social media account identifying as a 15-year-old Lincoln girl received a friend request from 37-year-old Martin Gomez of Columbus, Nebraska.
LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says the conversation between the two became sexually explicit, including unsolicited photos sent by the suspect.
“After weeks of talking, plans were made to meet in person at Mahoney Park in Lincoln and get a hotel room together,” Thomas said.
When Gomez arrived at Mahoney Park around 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 1, he instead met LPD SVU investigators and was taken into custody.
Gomez was booked into Lancaster County Jail for felony child enticement by an electronic device.
