A rideshare driver was assaulted by a group of teens and robbed of hundreds of dollars over the weekend in north Lincoln.

Just before midnight on Saturday, August 2nd, Lincoln Police Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says the 43-year-old Lyft driver from Lincoln drove to the area of N. 84th Street and Market Drive to pick up one person.

Instead, the driver told police that four teenage males got in the vehicle before one stole an envelope of cash and his cell phone.

When the driver confronted the teens, they punched him multiple times in the arms and back of the head. Before the group of teens took off running south, the driver was able to get his cell phone back.

Thomas says the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information that could help identify those involved is asked to call LPD at 402-441-6000, or you can remain anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
