Black Hills Energy will open enrollment Monday, Aug. 11, for its Annual Price Option program, which allows residential customers in eastern Nebraska to lock in their natural gas rate for one year.

Participants will pay a fixed rate of $0.74139 per therm from Nov. 1, 2025, through Oct. 31, 2026, compared to the current $0.65614 rate. The program helps customers better anticipate market price fluctuations, though monthly bills will still vary based on usage.

Enrollment ends Oct. 6 or when 13,000 customers sign up, whichever comes first. Customers can enroll at annualpriceoption.com or by calling 800-753-7509.

“The APO program is helpful for customers looking for more consistency and predictability in their budgets, especially during cold winter months,” said Andy Storf, Black Hills Energy’s general manager of operations in Nebraska.

Those not enrolled in the program will continue with the company’s standard variable rate.
