Just over 4,000 Lincoln Electric System customers remained without power as of 2:00 Sunday afternoon. As crews work to restore power LES is urging customers to not approach crews as they work. “We’ve received several reports from our crews working on restoring power that they are being approached by customers, wanting restoration specifics on their homes,” says spokesperson Kelley Porter.
“This is not only dangerous for the public, but it critically delays work in that location, prolonging outage restoration efforts.” LES says during this widespread power outage, LES crews, along with teams from Nebraska Public Power District and Grand Island Utilities, are working hard to restore power safely and as quickly as possible.
“Please maintain a safe distance from their work areas and refrain from approaching them or their equipment,” Porter says. “Their work is dangerous and requires their full attention.” Porter also says engaging with the crews delays their work.
“Let’s help them get the lights back on by giving them the space and focus they need.”
