Lincoln Police are looking for suspects involved in a crime spree that began around 6:00 a.m. Monday with a report of a suspicious vehicle at 500 West ‘O’ Street. “It was determined the white 2021 Dodge Charger had been stolen from A&R Auto Sales at 500 Westgate sometime after midnight,” says Public Information Manager Erika Thomas.

She says when officers checked that business, they discovered it had been burglarized. “Surveillance video showed two males break out the glass to the south entry door and take multiple vehicles from the business,” Thomas says. “They also hit multiple vehicles while leaving the lot, damaging them.”

The total loss of seven stolen vehicles was estimated at nearly $44,000 and the damage to three vehicles was estimated at more than $6,000. Thomas says four of the stolen vehicles have since been recovered, two after they were involved in crashes.

Thomas says one of the stolen vehicles was involved in a crash in the area of N. 1st and Fairfield streets around 2:00 a.m. Monday. “The blue 2013 Chrysler 300 drove through a yard, struck a fire hydrant and crashed into another vehicle.”  Those inside were no longer at the scene when officers arrived. Around 9:45 a.m., another one of the stolen vehicles was involved in a crash in the area of S. 47th and La Salle streets.

Thomas says the gray 2014 Ford Fusion hit a mailbox and a tree. Three individuals inside, a 13-year-old boy, a 14-year- old boy and a 17-year-old girl were all taken to the hospital with serious injuries.  Around 6:30 on Monday evening, another one of the stolen vehicles, a 2014 white Dodge Charger, was recovered in a parking lot in the area of 40th and Pawnee streets.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information that could help identify those involved is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000.  To remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600. You can also report online at lincolncrimestoppers.com or by downloading the free P3 app.
