To celebrate the beginning of a new school year at UNL and the wrap up of the first week of classes a big outdoor event will be held in downtown Friday night. It’s called the Big Red Lied Experience and Lauren Silverman Durban with the Lied Center for the Performing Arts says more than a thousand people are expected.”
It’s a outdoor concert and festival right outside the Lied Center in the corner of 12th and ‘R’,” Durban says. “It is totally free, the music starts at 7:30.” She says before that there will be food trucks, a bounce house, giveaways and local vendors.
The concert will be headlined by MXMTOON. Durban says the opener will be indie pop singer Emmy Jo, who was raised in Lincoln and is a UNL grad. The concert is put on in collaboration with the University Program Council.
Two downtown streets will be closed at noon on Friday in preparation for the event. LTU says 12th Street between “Q” and “R” and “R” Street between 12th and 13th streets will remain closed until noon on Saturday.
