Lincoln Police Investigate Weekend Auto Arson Calls

Lincoln Police and Lincoln Fire and Rescue are investigating several vehicle fires On July 4th and 5th.

The first happened on July 4th just before 5 a.m. in the 200 block of N 34th Street.  A woman reported her vehicle, a 2002 Red Saturn was fully engulfed in flames.  Fireworks were found in the vehicle and a window was broken.  At 1 p.m on July 4th, Lincoln Fire and Police responded to a belated fire in a vehicle near 35th and R Street.  A woman reported finding her 2015 Ford Escape had a large firework discharged inside.  The vehicle had been on fire but was put out before LFR arrived.

On July 6th, Lincoln Fire and Police were called to the 4300 block of N 1st Street at 3 a.m. for a fire inside a vehicle.  A man reported that a neighbor saw two vehicles pull close by.  One man put a firework inside the 2015 Jeep Cherokee through an already broken window.
Also on July 5th around 4:30 a.m., Lincoln Fire and Police were called to the 3100 block of North Hill Road that a vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.  A man said that he woke up to a large bang and saw is 2008 Nissan Altima on fire.
