Nebraska State Troopers Had A Busy 4th Of July

 Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol took16 impaired drivers from the road during the weekend surrounding Independence Day.
During the enforcement effort from Friday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 5th, troopers performed high visibility patrols throughout Nebraska. 
In addition to the 16 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol, troopers also issued  16 citations for driving under suspension, two for minor in possession and nine for having an open container,
State troopers issued six citations for no proof of insurance,  five for not wearing a seat belt, two for improper child restraint, and 292 for speeding.  That includes17 for driving at 100 miles per hour or more.
Troopers also performed 137 motorist assists.
The three-day effort was made possible thanks in part to a grant for $17,700 from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office.
