During the month of June 2020, twenty-eight people were killed in traffic crashes on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
- These 28 fatalities occurred in 26 fatal crashes.
- Fifteen of the twenty vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, none were using seatbelts, and five had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.
- 20 of the fatalities were in rural locations*.
- There were four fatalities on the interstate, thirteen on other highways, and eleven on local roads.
- Two of the fatalities were pedestrians.
- Six of the fatalities were motorcyclists.
- One of the fatalities was on ATV’s
- There were 24 fatalities in June of 2019.
- Only 11 of the 76 vehicle occupants killed during 2020 were using seatbelts.
