28 Nebraska Traffic Fatalities In July

The Nebraska Department of Transportation released their July Traffic Fatality report on Monday. Through the month, 28 people were killed in traffic accidents on Nebraska roadways.

The report shows that the fatalities happened in 26 accidents. Thirteen of the 22 vehicle occupants killed were not wearing a seat belt. Two were wearing seat belts and six were marked as unknown. There was one fatality on the interstate, 16 on highways and 11 on local roads.

Three of those killed were pedestrians and three were motorcyclists.

DOT statistics show there were 20 traffic fatalities in July of 2019. Only 14 of the 98 vehicle occupants killed during 2020 were using seat belts.
