Lincoln Police plain clothes investigators were following up on information around 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 18th when they saw a known felon in possession of a firearm. The investigators saw Tyler Vercher outside his apartment near 15th and Superior. When Vercher saw the investigators he took off running and investigators saw that Vercher had a gun in the waistband of his pants.
Investigators gave chase and ordered Vercher to stop and drop the gun. As Vercher ran, investigators saw him throw the weapon. They informed other officers of the location of the gun and continued to chase Vercher when he stopped on Superior Street. He still refused police orders and resisted arrest. Vercher was able to break free and tried to jump over a boat trailer hitch on a vehicle that was in the traffic lane. At that point, investigators were able to take Vercher into custody.
The firearm in Vercher’s possession was loaded and reported stolen from a vehicle on June 12th in Lincoln. Vercher was booked for carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and possession of a stolen firearm.
