On Wednesday, August 19th, Lincoln Police were keeping an eye on a school zone traffic enforcement at 19th and Superior around 8:30 a.m. when they saw a red Kia Spectra with no plates driving 45 mph in a 25 mph zone. As the officer tried to stop the vehicle it took off. Another officer nearby then clocked that Kia going 70 mph. The officer tried to stop the vehicle and again the driver took off. It soon stopped at an apartment complex near 15th and Superior. The officer saw the driver get out of the vehicle and run off.
Police talked to witnesses and were able to identify the driver as Schuyler Hobbs who had an outstanding warrant for domestic assault.
At 2:30 p.m., officers returned to the apartment and knocked on the door. They saw Hobbs run to the back of the apartment and he again ran from police. After a short chase, Hobbs was taken into custody. He was booked on the outstanding domestic assault warrant and for a number of traffic violations that include speeding in a school zone, no seat belt use, no valid registration, disobey the order of an officer directing traffic and refusing to comply with an order. Hobbs was also cited for speeding, flee in a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, reckless driving and no valid registration.
