All housing units at the Nebraska State Penitentiary (NSP) are under quarantine due to COVID-19.
Testing done Friday revealed 29 inmates in four housing units were positive for COVID-19. Due to the potential close contact some of those inmates may have had with individuals in other housing units, the entire facility was placed under quarantine.
While in quarantine the visitation program will remain closed.
A staff member with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services employed at the Nebraska State Penitentiary has tested positive for COVID-19 and is self-isolating at home.
The total number of NDCS staff members diagnosed with COVID-19 is now 64 with 54 recoveries.
