LFR Battles Two Fires Thursday

Lincoln Fire & Rescue was called to 4300 N. 10th Thursday at 1 p.m. for a house fire.  Heavy fire reported on the back of the home.  It took firefighters 20 minutes to get the fire under control.  Investigators determined the cause to be improper disposal of smoking materials causing $50,000 in damages.   No injuries reported.

At 6 p.m., Lincoln Fire & Rescue were called to 3609 N. 60th at 6 pm Thursday for a report of an explosion with a window blown out.  Crews saw smoke on arrival from a window from an apartment on the 2nd floor.  The fire was located in the kitchen and quickly put out.  Fire cause determined to be an unattended candle.  The total damages estimated at $5000.  A puppy was rescued from the apartment.  No injuries reported.
