The Lancaster County Health Department reports 153 new lab confirmed cases of COVID-19 Friday. That brings the community total to 4,957. The report shows 66 cases were connected to the Nebraska State Penitentiary, 51 cases in the 18 to 22 year age group and 36 cases from the general population.
The weekly count so far is 498 cases, the highest total ever recorded for Lancaster County. It tops last week’s total high of 476 new cases. The number of deaths remains at 21.
The Risk Dial remains in mid-Orange, or High Risk category for the second week in a row.
The positivity rate is up from 7.5% to 7.6% Friday. The state rate remains at 9.5%. There are currently 27 people hospitalized.
