The Lincoln-Lancaster County Risk Dial moves up one notch and is now in the upper Orange or High Risk category for COVID-19 to spread.
Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird says this is the highest level for the risk dial since it was established on May 11th.
There are 112 new cases reported today bringing the community total to 7.289. The number of cases so far this week now at 432. Health Director Pat Lopez says the weekly average has been at about 600 cases for the last several weeks. There are 59 people hospitalized with 11 people on ventilators. The two week average has been 65 patients a day.
Speaking with the mayor today, LPS Superintendent Steve Joel stated the district had planned to reopen 100% at the start of the 2nd Quarter on October 19th. Due to continued COVID-19 spread, the district will remain on the A-B schedule until further notice. He says they will continue to work closely with the Health Department and hope to fully reopen within a few weeks.
