On July 11th just before 3am, police responded to a report of gun shots fired outside of the Gourmet Grill at 1400 O Street. As police responded to the area, they observed that a window had been broken out of the Gourmet Grill and there were tables and chairs thrown about. Officers reviewed video evidence that showed that a fight between two groups had broke out inside the restaurant. After the fight ended, the group left the restaurant and then exchanged gunfire in the street. Officers located two different calibers of gun casings in the street. The estimated damage to the restaurant was around $1,200.
Investigators reviewed the video footage provided by witnesses and businesses in the area and identified 25 year old Dmarqueyon Whittington as one of the parties who fired a gun during the altercation.
On November 6th around 9:30 pm, police took Whittington into custody in the area of 48th and Randolph after a traffic stop. Whittington was arrested for Discharge a Firearm Near a Building and Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony.
