An arrest is made in the theft of a gun from a vehicle parked at the Kawasaki plant at 6500 NW 27th Street on October 20th. A woman reported she had parked her car in the lot. She kept a handgun in the center console. During lunch break she went to her vehicle and found a window down and the console open and rummaged through. The 380 Smith and Wesson gun was missing. Security footage from Kawasaki showed a man driving a white pickup with in-transit papers get out of the truck and then entered the woman’s vehicle.
On Tuesday, November 17th, police were called to the Kawasaki plant after security reported the same pickup with the in-transit stickers was back and the driver appeared to be looking into vehicles. Police then spoke 41 year old Jarrad King who was the same man seen on earlier security video stealing the woman’s handgun.
Police asked to to get out of his truck he first refused and argued. He then agreed to get out but immediately reached into his jacket despite being told by officers he was under arrest. King resisted officer’s warnings and kept reaching into his jacket. That ended with a struggle for several minutes before King was taken into custody.
Officers found a knife with a 4 1/4 inch blade in the jacket. Due to previous convictions, King is prohibited from possessing weapons, including knives. King was booked for theft by unlawful taking, resisting arrest, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person and carrying a concealed weapon.
