By News Dec 1, 2020 | 4:28 PM

National Wreaths Across America Day is an event dedicated to remembering the sacrifices veterans have made in wars since the American Revolution.

Wyuka Cemetery Program and Wreath Laying Ceremony is canceled for 2020.   In lieu of the program, volunteers will lay more than 1,800 wreaths soldiers’ graves while following Directed Health Measures.

Scheduled for Saturday, December 19, 11:00 a.m. (All locations will hold their ceremonies at the same time based on 12:00 Noon EST in the U.S.) This event is CANCELLED in Lincoln, NE due to current DHMs.

This program represents the best of America where people from all backgrounds, political persuasions, income levels, ethnicity and ages come together to honor those who have gone before us and served out of love of country.

Last year, over 1.3 million wreaths were laid on the graves of Americans in over 1,700 locations by VOLUNTEERS. This year, volunteers will gather in over 2,000 locations across the United States and around the world to lay wreaths. Our military ships at sea will also participate.

It said that people die twice: once when they take their last breath and the second time when their name is said for the last time. Volunteers will be asked to place their hands on the graves and step back and say the name of the person on the head stone out loud in respect and in memory of that person. Children are especially encouraged to join adults in a respectful laying of the wreaths.
