Giant Pandas are considered a vulnerable species in the wild and apparently they are known for not being too good at mating on their own. In this case, pandas Le Le and Ying Ying from the Ocean Park zoo in Hong Kong, have successfully mated after 10 years of trying. While zoos try to keep pandas alive with artificial insemination, natural mating is way more effective.
Ocean Park says its resident giant pandas Ying Ying and Le Le have mated naturally for the first time since they started trying a decade ago.
Executive director Michael Boos says it’s “extremely exciting” as there’s a higher chance of pregnancy.

Apparently, this happened right after the zoo closed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
