Nebraska lawmakers introduced 143 bills into the session on day two.
Among the proposals were:
LB29, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Justin Wayne, would replace Arbor Day with Juneteenth – A celebration of the end of slavery in the U.S;
LB30, sponsored by, Omaha Sen. Justin Wayne, caps insulin costs to $100 every 30 days;
LB36, sponsored by Bayard Sen. Steve Erdman, would require schools to display “In God We Trust” in classrooms or a prominent area;
LB43, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Matt Hansen, which would provide for election of election commissioners and eliminate certain deputy positions;
LB52, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Steve Lathrop, which would provide for immunity for injury or death resulting from COVID-19 exposure;
LB64, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Brett Lindstrom, which would change provisions relating to the taxation of Social Security benefits;
LB72, sponsored by Lincoln Sen. Suzanne Geist, which would provide for sale of alcoholic liquor not in its original package;
LB76, sponsored by Peru Sen. Julie Slama, which would change apportionment of Nebraska’s electoral college votes;
LB111, sponsored by Thurston Senator Joni Albrecht, would include stiffer penalties to individuals who assault, throw bodily fluids or flammable materials toward law enforcement officers, graffiti public buildings or statues, participate in a riot of three or more people, disrupt a public meeting or disrupt public roadways;
LR2CA, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Justin Wayne, which would amend the Nebraska state constitution to legalize cannabis for persons twenty-one and older and to require legislation;
LR3CA, sponsored by Peru Sen. Julie Slama, would require voters to bring their photo I.D. to the polls before voting in an election;
LR10CA, sponsored by Omaha Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh, would remove felony convictions other than treason as a disqualification for voting;
LR11CA, sponsored by Bayard Sen. Steve Erdman, which would amend the Nebraska state constitution to require enactment of a consumption tax and prohibit certain other forms of taxation;
