On January 29th just before midnight, police responded to the 200 block of N 48th on a report of a weapons violation.

When police arrived, they contacted 16- and 15-year-old males who stated that they were being followed by another vehicle from the area of 25th and O Streets.  The victim identified a 17-year-old male from the other vehicle saying that he leaned out the window of the red Ford Focus he was in holding a long black gun.  The victim indicated that there were four total people in the vehicle responsible. The victims indicated the male then pointed the gun at them and fired multiple shots towards them when they were in the area of 30th and O Streets.

The 16-year-old victim, who was driving at the time, suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.  His injury is not considered life threatening.  Officers also observed damage from the gunfire to the victim’s vehicle as well.

On January 30th, the driver and two passengers were contacted by investigators and located the Ford Focus that was towed to be processed for evidence.

On January 31st just before 2 a.m., investigators located the 17-year-oldat his home and took him into custody.  He was arrested for 1st Degree Assault, Attempted 1st Degree Assault, two counts of Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony, and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm.
