The Nebraska Community Blood Bank has declared a blood emergency. “As the supply of all blood types are not where they need to be following the Thanksgiving holiday and going into another holiday,” says Marketing and Communication Manager Kari Lundeen.
She tells KLIN News they have seen a more than 20 percent decline in blood donations since Thanksgiving. They are appealing for all types of blood, especially Type O, which is vital for trauma and emergency care.
She says right now they only have a 3-5 day supply of all blood types. She encourages new and returning donors to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life. You can schedule an appointment at NCBB.org or call 402-486-9414.
