A 19 year old man remains in critical condition after an accident just before midnight on February 5th.
Lincoln Fire & Rescue were called to the accident in the 6000 block of O Street where a person was trapped. When officers arrived they found a 2012 Silver Kia Optima wrapped around a tree in the median.
A deputy arrived on scene first and was tending to the driver who had been removed from the vehicle. Witnesses reported that the vehicle was eastbound on O Street when the vehicle lost control after a lane change. The vehicle swerved into the median where it struck a tree.
The driver, a 19-year-oldmale, was transported to a local area hospital with life threatening injuries. Investigators are looking into what preceded the accident, but speed appears to be a factor.
