A former inmate at Nebraska Community Corrections is facing charges after being seen Saturday roaming around the perimeter of the facility Saturday at around 5:40 p.m. It was reported by another inmate that Brad Geller appeared to be intoxicated and had jumped a fence. Staff was not sure if he was an inmate so got into a CCCL van and started looking for him. They found Geller near 27th and Coddington.
The staff stopped and Geller got into the back of the van. Staff started questioning him and that is when Geller started cursing and shouting at them, threatening assault. While they were in the van Geller apparently struck one of the officers. He then got out of the van and Lincoln Police were contacted. While on the phone with dispatch, correction staff were able to provide a location to police. Officers arrested Geller at SW 17th and West A Street. Correction staff were then able to confirm that Geller was a former inmate and was not currently incarcerated by NDCS.
It is not known why Geller was walking near the facility. Geller was booked on at least one count of assault on an officer. The officer was not injured.
Geler had been previously incarcerated with NDCS in 1999, 2004 and 2008.
