More than 100 young entrepreneurs will have 75 businesses set up and ready to sell their wares at the Lincoln Children’s Business Fair outside Acton Academy near 14th and Yankee Hill Road on Saturday. Organizer Zach Harsin tells KLIN News the one day pop-up shop will allow kids to sell real products and services for real money.
“Everything from your typical lemonade and cookies to homemade jewelry and then everything in between, from toys and plants to toys and dog treats.” Harsin says one young entrepreneur will be selling eggs from her back yard and another will be selling pizza using the pizza oven he bought last year with the proceeds from his business.
He says each entrepreneur developed a brand, created a product or service and built a marketing strategy prior to opening to customers. Harsin tells KLIN News the marketplace gives kids a taste of what owning a business is all about. “Learn through failure, having to manage money and a budget and all of the things that come from running a business. “They just get to do it in the microcosm of a one day event,” Harsin says.
The event will runs from 12-2 p.m. and Harsin encourages Lincoln residents to bring their wallets and support these businesses.
