The trial for former Seward County deputy Anthony Gann, who is charged with manslaughter in a 2023 fatal shooting, has been delayed until February 2026, according to KLIN media partner 1011 Now.

Gann, 29, was initially scheduled for trial in February 2025, but the date has been postponed twice and is now set for Feb. 9, 2026. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for Nov. 24, 2025.

He is accused of unlawfully killing 43-year-old Jorge Luis Santana-Ramirez of Hastings after a high-speed chase on I-80 on Oct. 23, 2023. Gann told investigators he saw a weapon in Santana-Ramirez’s hand before firing.

A grand jury indicted Gann in April 2024. He pleaded not guilty and was released on $10,000 bail. Evidence from the grand jury remains sealed.

Gann resigned from the sheriff’s office after the indictment. He is allowed to work and travel within Nebraska while awaiting trial.
