The FBI has wrapped up a five-day nationwide operation to identify, track and arrest child predators in coordination with all 55 field offices across the country. Last week the FBI arrested 205 people and rescued 115 children across the country during Operation Restore Justice.
As part of this operation, the FBI Omaha Field Office, with the assistance of local, state and federal law enforcement partners, arrested one man in Omaha. Omaha agents also contributed in arresting another man as part of a case being handled by the FBI in Minneapolis. In addition, four federal search warrants were served and 15 victims were identified from approximately 1,000 images submitted to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
“The harm child sexual predators inflict is vast. Locking them up is one of the most important actions the FBI and our law enforcement partners can take to protect children,” says FBI Omaha Special Agent in Charge Eugene Kowel. “We are proud of the work of our Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force in Operation Restore Justice and will remain relentless in our pursuit of these criminals to ensure the safety of the most vulnerable members of our community.”
Those arrested in this operation included people who held positions of public trust, including law enforcement, members of the military and teachers. They’re accused of various crimes including the production, distribution, possession of child sexual abuse material, online enticement and transportation of minors, and child sex trafficking.
The FBI says their work didn’t just begin last week. Throughout the entire month of April they joined state and local law enforcement partners, more than 190 perpetrators were arrested on charges related to crimes against children.
