National Weather Service Issues Wind Advisory For Sunday

…WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM TO 7 PM CDT SUNDAY…

East winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected across portions of east central, northeast and southeast Nebraska and southwest and west central Iowa.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Additional Information:

Rain will continue to overspread the area tonight through Sunday. The rain could be locally heavy at times and isolated non-severe thunderstorms could also develop in southeast Nebraska.

Sunday night through Saturday Widespread rain is expected to taper off into Monday. Total rainfall across the region could range from 2 to 3.50 inches, with the highest amounts across portions of eastern Nebraska.

While we do need the moisture, this could lead to localized flooding in some areas, and a few rivers and streams could reach action or minor flood state Monday into Tuesday, especially on the Big Blue and Platte.

Rain may mix with snow in extreme northeast and north-central Iowa Sunday night, with a small chance of slushy accumulations up to an inch by Monday morning.

There will be another chance of rain possibly mixed with snow Tuesday night through early Thursday. Additional heavy rains across portions of the area could lead to continued saturated soils.
