The Urgent Care Clinic of Lincoln is now a third COVID-19 testing site in Lincoln.
They are offering drive-up testing without an appointment, 7 days a week with results usually in 24-48 hours. Patients will need to call ahead and get instructions from the staff ahead of time about online registering but it’s a much-needed addition for testing in the Lincoln community.
“We are able to test 7 days a week so this is a big resource we can offer,” says Dr. Don Rice, owner of the Urgent Care Clinic of Lincoln. “And, you do not need a doctor’s note to be tested here. We do require patients to be registered and we do need to ask pre-screening questions, along with getting each patient’s medical history,” says Dr. Rice.
New patients will need to pre-register online and once they arrive at the clinic, they are asked to park on the west entrance “concierge” side where they will call the front desk notifying them of their arrival.
“We’ll come out to their car, get insurance information, sign necessary forms and both new and existing patients will be asked screening questions prior to the test,” Dr. Rice said.
Patients who have symptoms other than COVID-19 or other illness will be given the opportunity to come into the clinic to see a provider. The Urgent Care Clinic of Lincoln was prepared well ahead for this type of virus.
“Our clinic has 3 separate ventilation systems, electro-static air scrubbers which electronically clean the air and we can isolate patients on this side who we feel are a higher risk for COVID-19. As soon as we heard there was a patient in Nebraska who tested positive we opted to
put our staff in PPE’s so they were protected and our patients were protected.”
Having worked in emergency care, and is currently the Physician Medical Director for Beatrice Rescue, Dr. Rice says preparedness is
always better than being reactionary.
“I had calls and meetings with ourteam in Beatrice very early on to make sure they were up to date and prepared to treat patients in Gage County and keep their emergency personnel protected as well. Because we prepared early, not one healthcare provider at UCCL or Beatrice Fire and Rescue has been exposed to COVID-19.”
The clinic is testing Monday – Friday from 8am – 8pm and Saturday and Sundays from 10am – 3:30pm and is located off 72nd & Pioneers. Please call the clinic if you have any questions or visit their website at UCCLincoln.com
