Tornado Watch Issued for Lancaster County, Surrounding Areas

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of Iowa and Nebraska, including Lancaster County, until 9 p.m. tonight.

NWS Omaha/Valley says a few tornados, hail up to tennis ball size, and scattered win gusts up to 70 mph are all possible.

The watch area also covers surrounding southeast Nebraska counties, including Cass, Otoe, Johnson, Gage, Saline, Seward, Saunders, Douglas, Butler, and Sarpy counties.

The possibility of storms is likely to continue overnight into Tuesday morning.

NWS lists a chance of showers and thunderstorms continuing until 4am, then another slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 7am and 8am.
