On Wednesday, March 17, 2021, at approximately 12:15 p.m., LPD officers responded to the 900 block of South 14th Street on a report of a possible impersonation of a police officer.
Officers spoke with a 20 year old woman who said an unknown adult male arrived at the residence and asked for her by name. The male identified himself as a police officer. When further questioned about his identity, the male departed the residence. LPD could not find any evidence of a police officer or investigator working in that area at the time of the incident.

Plainclothes LPD investigators will present their official police badge when contacting residents. LPD officers and investigators should identify themselves when contacting residents, and if requested, should also readily provide their badge number and business card.
If residents are unsure about whether an individual contacting them to confirm it is an actual LPD officer, they can call 402-441-6000 for verification.
