Lincoln Police are trying to determine who stole two Bobcat track loaders from a construction site near NW 52 and W. Leighton.  LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says the theft was reported on Wednesday.

“The manager of Duke Aerial Equipment in Lincoln told officers they had rented out the equipment to a construction company in Oklahoma for one week,” Thomas says.  The loaders were dropped off on May 20 around 2:30 p.m. and had not been seen since.”

Thomas says during the investigation, police spoke with a neighbor who said he saw a trailer arrive around midnight on May 21 and load up the Bobcats. “It was confirmed that it was not Duke Aerial or the company believed to have rented them.”

She says that company confirmed it had not rented any equipment and did not have a jobsite in Lincoln. The phone number for the person claiming to be with that company was disconnected. The stolen Bobcats have an estimated value of $128,000.

They are a 2022 orange and white Bobcat T770 Compact Track Loader and a 2023 orange and white Bobcat MT100 Mini Track Loader.  The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about those responsible or the whereabouts of the equipment is asked to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000.
