Lincoln Police used their Service Dog Jet in a traffic stop around 3:30 Wednesday night at 68th and Leighton. Officers questioning a driver and passenger became suspicious due to responses given while being questioned.
The passenger in the vehicle provided officers a false identity multiple times.. When PSD Jet conducted a sniff, he indicated the presence of narcotics on the passenger door of the vehicle. Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle and located a purse that had a syringe and pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue, and two bottles with pills determined to be controlled substances. The meth pipe residue field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Officers also utilized a Mobile AFIS, Automated Fingerprint Identification System to attempt to identify the passenger. As they contacted her in the rear seat of the cruiser, they observed a syringe cap and clear bag with 2.1 grams suspected methamphetamine that had been discarded near her feet.
The Mobile AFIS was successful in identifying the passenger as 33-year-old Zoe Rena. During a thorough search at the jail, more pills were located. In total there were 110 Diazepam pills, 20 Hydrochloride pills, and 2 Amphetamine pills located which are Schedule 2 and 4 controlled substances.
Rena was arrested for three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and False Reporting.
